Speaker's Biography
Dr. Diane Tay is a specialist paediatric dentist with a Doctorate in Clinical Dentistry from the University of Sydney. Her clinical interests include managing special needs children, dental trauma, and paediatric oral pathology. She works at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, lectures at multiple universities, and directs the Sydney Specialist Dental Group. Originally from Singapore, she balances her professional life with family time, raising three children.
Diane graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Science (Honours) from the University of Melbourne, and after several years of working in both the private and public sectors in Sydney, she went on to pursue her passion in paediatric dentistry, successfully attaining a Doctorate of Clinical Dentistry (Paediatric Dentistry) from The University of Sydney. Her research thesis was based on frenotomies and its effectiveness on infants with tongue-ties and feeding difficulties. Dr Tay works at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead in Sydney where she thoroughly enjoys managing a range of cases in which her main clinical interests lie; the management of special needs and medically compromised children, paediatric oral medicine, pathology and dental trauma.
Diane is actively committed to continuing education and teaching, maintaining her role as Clinical Associate Lecturer with The University of Sydney and lectures to both her medical and dental colleagues. She also works in private practice at the Sydney Specialist Dental Group in St Peters (Sydney), Specialist Dental Suite in Parramatta (Sydney) and at Mid-North Coast Paediatric Dental Services in Port Macquarie.
